“Music For Vending Machines 1” is the first installation of a series of micro-releases done by Memory Color. Released onto type 1 cassette, the album entails three tracks, exploring three different spatial environments. One half sound design, and one half ambient music, the tape is inspired by early works of artists such as Hiroshi Yoshimura and Yutaka Hirose.
The name of the project; “Music For Vending Machines,” explores the idea of what an album might sound like if condensed and “miniaturized” so as to fit inside a vending machine. Convenience and easy listening are key. The album was recorded at my home studio in Portland, OR, using a Yamaha DX-7 & Roland MC-101.
