May 11, 2014 Hi-Res Satellite of Tornadic Storm

This is a loop of 1 minute, 1 km resolution visible satellite data between 4 and 5 PM on Sunday, May 11. Of particular interest is the tornadic storm in south central Nebraska which appears to be rotating at the top of the storm! This is probably the result of individual, very powerful updrafts circulating around the main mesocyclone (rotating part of a supercell thunderstorm). Please refer to and for information specific to this storm, as well as damage surveys.
