VR Railway Catenary Wire Training | 1000 realities studio

This virtual reality project was created for PKP Energetyka, the electricity distributor to the Polish railway network and other business customers. Our goal was to create a dedicated VR training that can be used to train new and veteran rail engineers. This training leverages the different senses from the learner and provides a unique experience to assist in understanding the essential procedures for working with catenary systems and structures. Trainees must give their full attention to the course, interact with environment objects and work with special tools in order to receive feedback on their actions. In a fully immersive VR environment with interactive elements, the trainee must carry out important tasks in an effective way. After choosing the appropriate documents and equipment, the learner begins to practice the complex process of anchoring catenary wire. In this high-impact learning and skills-building experience, a holographic menu is available by which the trainee must use a calculator and table of calculations to approximate the natural path of a wire strung between two points. The full virtual reality experience consists of a tutorial, equipment collection, documentation check, ground-level inspection and repairs, and using tools and special equipment including a ladder and aerial lift.
