BEAUTY OF OIL is a German research collective dedicated to understanding the complexities and paradoxes of Petro Modernity. Petro Modernity is the Society we live in, but seen from the lens of the main energy resource that it uses. Everything has to do with oil. How do we want to end up the Age of Oil? Before answering, realize that 1) we study some aspects of nature exclusively because we use oil, 2) the knowledge that allows to criticize the pollution derives from the wealth generated by the products that pollute, 3) if you want to go and live in a cave you’ll need the products of Petro Modernity to reach that cave (and to survive there). BEAUTY OF OIL pokes you to save the good standards arose from Petro Modernity and keep them into a new energy system.
