How Rwanda Rebuilt Itself Through Basket Weaving - Macy’s Rwanda Path to Peace

After suffering through a genocide, the women of Rwanda banned together and fueled their cultural passion for basket weaving. Willa Shalit visited these women and made the promise to help sell their baskets to the world. Selling these baskets provides these women support for their families, the ability to send their children to school and live a good life. Macy’s now sells these baskets with the support of their CEO Terry Lundgren and the program has now reached its 10 year anniversary.
