From shame and hate towards forgiveness and gratitude. Anna T. Litovkina interviews Carine Kanimba

In this interview Anna T. Litovkina, a psychologist and coach talks to Carine Kanimba about her path from shame and hate towards forgiveness and gratitude Carine Kanimba was born in Kigali, Rwanda, just before the worst genocide in modern history in Rwanda (1994). Carine lost both her parents when she was only one-year old, and she was saved and adopted by the sister of her biological father, aunt Tatiana and Tatiana’s husband, Paul Rusesabagina whose story is portrayed in a famous movie “Hotel Rwanda”. Carine and her 2,5 year old-sister were taken by Paul and Tatiana Rusesabagina, along with their own children, to Belgium, where she grew up together with her cousins. She went to school in Belgium. Carine moved later to US. Carine Kanimba is currently a Business Development analyst at Flat World Partners, an investment firm focusing solely on social and sustainable investing. Prior to that she worked on the Equity Sales team at Renaissance Capital a leading emerging and frontier markets investment bank. Carine received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and masters in Law and Economics from Aix Marseille University, Erasmus University of Rotterdam and University of Bologna. Carine has lived in Africa, Europe and North and South America.
