Czerwone Maki na Monte Cassino

Melodia i dwie pierwsze zwrotki powstały w nocy z 17 na 18 maja 1944, podczas pamiętnej bitwy o Monte Cassino, trzecia zwrotka natomiast 18 maja już po zwycięskim jej zakończeniu. Autorem tekstu jest Feliks Konarski żołnierz II korpusu Polskich Sił Zbrojnych na zachodzie pod dowództwem generała dywizji Władysława Andersa. Kompozytorem melodii jest Alfred Schutz, dyrygent i aktor, członek Teatru Żołnierza Polskiego, stacjonującego w Campobasso pod Monte Cassino. Melody and two opening stanzas were written in the night 17/18 may 1944 during the memorable battle on Monte Cassino, the third stanza was added after the victorious ending of that battle.
