Pepsiman is about as ’90s as ’90s ad campaigns get, and the first couple minutes of the Pepsiman theme song are hilariously repetitive and over-the-top. But just when you think the tune has nothing else to offer besides people yelling “PEPSIMAAAAN“ over a surf beat at the top of their lungs, you get hit in the face with some absolutely killing sax and trumpet solos. Let’s take a moment to appreciate these hidden gems of improvisation, and outline some ways that these masters structure their improvised lines.
