Satellite or SAT chromosomes are chromosomes that contain secondary constructs that serve as identification. They are observed in Acrocentric chromosomes. In addition to the centromere, one or more secondary constrictions can be observed in some chromosomes at metaphase.
A karyotype is a preparation of the complete set of metaphase chromosomes in the cells of a species or in an individual organism, sorted by length, centromere location and other features. and for a test that detects this complement or counts the number of chromosomes.
Cytology is the exam of a single cell type, as often found in fluid specimens. It’s mainly used to diagnose or screen for cancer. It’s also used to screen for fetal abnormalities, for pap smears, to diagnose infectious organisms, and in other screening and diagnostic areas.
Problem:
A man has two chromosomal anomalies : a satellite in one of the chromosomes of pair 4 and an abnormal coloring of one of the chromosomes of pair 7 . If this man marries a normal woman, what is the probability that the children will have both of the fathers anomalies .
