He seeks a calm, safe and private place to hide and ends up at the Ritz, an all-male bathhouse of very loose virtues and very high camp. Among the colorful characters Gaetano meets is aspiring entertainer Googie Gomez (Rita Moreno), who thinks that he is a famous producer, while he mistakenly thinks she is a man in drag.
