대선 출마 선언한 푸틴, 헝가리 ’우크라 현안 반대’ 고수에 EU정상회의 먹구름 Today’s Within the Frame will take a look at the war in Ukraine and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent moves. But before that, we will bring you special live coverage of President Yoon visiting the war memorial in Dam Square, Amsterdam with Dutch King Willem-Alexander. President Yoon is currently on a state visit to the Netherlands at the invitation of the king, the very first one since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1961. Just moments ago, a welcoming ceremony took place at the Royal Palace where he inspected a Dutch guard of honor. Before he moves to have a private lunch with the king and queen Yoon will visit the war memorial with King Willem-Alexander. Until that footage comes in, we have invited professor Sung-soo Eric Kim from Hanyang University to talk about bilateral ties between South Korea and the Netherlands. Professor Eric, welcome. Q1. I would like to first ask what kind of partner the Netherlands has been to South Korea. It is said to have been the biggest investor among EU member states and a great trade partner. Could you elaborate more on this? Q2. The Netherlands sure is a great partner indeed. President Yoon has become the first South Korean president to pay a state visit to the country. What significance does this have? Q3. Just moments ago, there was an official welcome ceremony hosted by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at Dam Square in the Dutch capital, and before attending a reception at the Royal Palace, President Yoon and the King are expected to lay a wreath at a war memorial on Dam Square. Could you tell us where this is? Q4. After the luncheon President Yoon and the King will visit the headquarters of top chipmaking equipment manufacturer ASML. Could you tell us more about what ASML specializes in manufacturing? Q5. As a matter of fact, President Yoon will be granted access to ASML’s cleanroom for the first time as a foreign head of state and also get to see the manufacturing process of the newest lithography machines set for launch soon. Could you tell us more on this? Q6. I heard lithography equipment that handles extreme ultraviolet technology is critical for global chipmakers. and that is mainly the reason why Samsung Electronics executive chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won accompanied the President on this tour. What kind of cooperation could they bring about with ASML? Q7. President Yoon is expected to further talk about pathways for chip cooperation between Seoul and Amsterdam. What do you expect to be discussed? Q8. The Netherlands is a home to a rich semiconductor ecosystem. That being said, how would semiconductor collaboration with the Dutch in any way help to develop partnerships with the United States or other countries? Q9. President Yoon will meet Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and discuss upgrading their bilateral ties to a “strategic partnership.“ What will be the focus of their discussion? Q10. What is left on the itinerary for President Yoon’s state visit to the Netherlands and how do you expect the bilateral ties to be boosted further through this visit? Alright, these are all the questions I have for you today. Thank you Professor Kim for coming to the studio. We appreciate it.
