Choreographed and Skated by: Mayuri Bhandari In honor of the film Padmaavat’s release, here is my ice skating tribute to the beautiful song Ghoomar! As a Rajasthani, I skate to this song with pride! As an Indian-American actress, dancer, and figure skater, I love combining Indian dance and music (specifically Bollywood performance) on a unique platform that resonates with all. It represents my worlds coming together and showcasing the beauty of both forms. When I heard Ghoomar, I felt an immediate connection to the essence of the song: the spins, turns, and passion of love for the dance. I am inspired by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s music, artistry, choreography, style, and would love the opportunity to work with him as an actress. Creating these pieces feels very natural; I have done many such routines on ice, including my debut Nagada Sang Dhol on “Dare to Dance“ with Akshay Kumar. * About Me (IMDB Bio) Born and raised in the United States and closely in touch with her South Asian heritage, Mayuri is an actress of East Indian descent. Mayuri’s background lies in performance arts and in the Bollywood industry; she is the National junior level figure skating champion (ISA 2008), an Indian dance reality star, a Bollywood Fitness Bollyx Co-Founder, Miss India Global 2015, and an advocate of arts through social work. Through her yogic philosophy background, poetry, and acting, she engages with various communities and creates as well as performs in various dramatic and comedic works with a powerful social message.
