Sashiko Cross Flower stitch (Jujihanazashi) with Hitomezashi. You can use this for visible mending!

Thank you for watching and welcome back! I’ve been making Sashiko videos recently as part of my project to make some special and practical gifts. I am not a Sashiko expert but I’ve been enjoying the beauty of Sashiko for a while, mainly using the traditional Japanese patterns. In this video, I’ll show how I stitch the cross flower stitches (Juji-Hana Zashi) with Sashiko. This traditional pattern may look a bit complicated but it’s actually very simple. It uses the hitome-zashi technique (you draw a grid and stitch using the grid lines) just like some coasters I made in the previous videos and comprises with horizontal lines, vertical lines and diagonal lines. There are different ways to stitch Sashiko patterns and you don’t always need to follow exactly the way I stitch but I hope this video explains the basic idea of the pattern.
