Major Flare - Strongest Solar Flare Of Solar Cycle 25

A major solar flare measuring X6.3 was detected around active sunspot region 3590 at 22:34 UTC (Feb. 22). This is the strongest flare of Solar Cycle 25, and the third X-flare the sunspot has produced in a 24 hour period. Interestingly, neither explosion lifted a CME out of the sun’s atmosphere. This means the triple X-flares will NOT cause any geomagnetic storms on Earth. AR3590 has an unstable ’beta-gamma-delta’ magnetic field that harbors energy for additional X-class explosions. R3 (Strong) Radio Blackout Extreme ultraviolet radiation from the flare ionized the top of Earth’s atmosphere causing a shortwave radio blackout over Australia, New Zealand, West USA, Hawaii, Micronesia, SE Pacific, and Polynesia.
