EPIC INNSBRUCK 18-02: Freeriding

The second episode of our EPIC INNSBRUCK series takes us to the high alpine peaks surrounding the city - a true ski/snowboard freeride playground. 👉BLOG: 👍 SUBSCRIBE : Nowhere else in the world do city and mountains blend so seamlessly together as in Innsbruck, Austria - the Capital of the Alps. Filmmaker Ashley Wiggins takes us on a tour of the freeride playground above the city, from the raw high alpine peaks of Kühtai (2020m) to the playful forests and jumps of Nordkette. He’s joined by talented snowboarders Victor Heim and Gabriel Indrist plus skier Ludwig Wiedermayr, who together turn these mighty mountains into a vast natural playground full of powder-cloaked steeps, cliff drops and backcountry booters. Victor, Gabriel and Ludwig are very experienced and they analyse the snow, terrain, and weather conditions before venturing out. Ludwig is also part of the mountain rescue team in East Tirol. It is advised to only go off-piste with a local guide, or in avalanche controlled zones where local teams blast the mountain to release controlled avalanches and clear out dangerous layers. I wrote about this in a previous article. Read the daily avalanche bulletin each morning to learn about current conditions, and make sure to ALWAYS carry the minimum safety kit of transciever, shovel and probe. Stay safe, look out for each other, and have fun. CONNECT: BLOG : INSTAGRAM : TWITTER : FACEBOOK : GOOGLE : PINTEREST :
