Artek Pioneer Camp - What was it, and what is it? Interview with Irina Michelizzi

Join us today to hear about the All-Union Soviet Pioneer Camp Artek. We will hear from Irina about what it was like in the Soviet Union, her visit there, and the visits of many famous people, such as Vladimir Vladimirovih Putin and Samantha Reed Smith. We will show many historic photos! We will also talk about Artek Camp during World War 2, or the Great Patriotic War, what happened during the time of independent Ukraine, and what Russia is doing to bring the camp up to the main 2025 goal of turning Artek into the leading international children’s educational recreation center.
