ELIZABETH COSTELLO by JM Coetzee 🇦🇺 🇿🇦 BOOK REVIEW

Describing a novel like Elizabeth Costello is challenging. It is not quite like anything else I have read before. But I will try; it is a novel of ostensive simplicity and rare ambition. The aging Elizabeth Costello might be one of the most fascinating and maddening characters that the Nobel Prize winner JM Coetzee has ever written. Costello is a public intellectual who makes a living telling people what she thinks, even though her opinions are not always met with enthusiasm or even approval.
