United States of America. Introductory intertitle reads: “Florida water sportists discover that pride goeth before a fall in the greasy pole competition.“ L/S from high angle of a greasy pole sticking out over an outdoor swimming pool. Spectators enjoy the sight of a man in a swimsuit attempting to balance on the pole without falling into the water. Closer shot of a woman inching her way out onto the pole. She slides off and dives into the pool. Another woman has a go but doesn’t last long. A man launches himself out onto the pole and manages to grab the little flag from the end before falling in - perhaps this is the aim of the game? “But here’s some diving into fame to give you a real thrill.“ L/S of a man diving from a very high board into an open air swimming pool.
