How 50 million trees have changed the world

Back in 2014, we planted one tree per minute in Burkina Faso. Today, we’re planting a new tree every second across 21 reforestation projects across the planet. And thanks to you, we’ve now planted 50 million trees in total. These trees have absorbed 2.5 million tonnes of toxic CO2 from our atmosphere. But they are doing so much more. They are creating a habitat for chimpanzees in Uganda. In the Sahel region of Burkina Faso, they stop the desert from moving south. They are restoring water supplies and soil fertility in Peru. And they are providing more dependable, diverse and plentiful harvests to smallholder farmers around the world. That’s why 50 million trees matter. Thank you for joining us on this journey. We’re just getting started. ___ Produced by Joshi Gottlieb (IG: @joshigot) and Shane Thomas McMillan (@dokumentarian) Editing & post-production by Sina Samavati (IG: @sinasamavati) Motion graphics & animation by Sina Samavati Writing by Joshi Gottlieb and Shane Thomas McMillan Cinematography by Shane Thomas McMillan and agency footage ____ Make Ecosia your default search engine to plant trees while you search the web: Ecosia is available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and many more.
