St Mary’s. Tal-y-Llyn near Aberffraw., Anglesey.
St Mary’s is all thats left of the village of Tal-y-Llyn that was wiped out by plague.
The name of Tal-y-Llyn means above the lake. The church overlooks Llyn Padrig a small fresh water lake. The sits on a raised mound in the center of a circular churchyard or llan suggesting a prehistoric site.
The church is on a small road between Aberffraw and Gwalchmai and is one of four on Anglesey thats in the care of The Friends of Friendless Churches a charity set up to rescue and repair redundant places of worship in England and Wales.
The four are open to visitors and more information can be found on The Friends of Friendless Churches website.
