Ukitake Jushiro: THE WASTED POTENTIAL | BLEACH: Character Analysis

Ukitake Jushiro is the kind and compassionate captain of the 13th division with BLEACH’s Gotei 13. He is one of the oldest Shinigami within the Soul Society, alongside Shunsui, Unohana and Head Captain Yamamoto Genryusai. As Rukia’s captain he offers her sound advice and serves as a source of wisdom for her during Ichigo’s battle against the Grandfisher. During the Thousand Year Blood War arc we learn that he has a very interesting backstory which sheds some light onto his character. Ukitake is hyped as one of the strongest captains at the beginning of the series, but I believe we never get to see him live up to his full potential.
