Flapping, Scratching And Bug Eyed Afternoon Delights

In our area, the predominate species is the Black flying-fox but we also have vulnerable and endemic Grey-headed flying-foxes year round as well as Little Reds that visit during the summer months. Endangered Spectacled flying-foxes are not found in our area as they live in far north Queensland. Flying-foxes are a keystone species and their loss would have a profound and negative impact on Australia’s’ ecosystem. Sentient, intelligent, resourceful and essential, flying-foxes deserve protection as they not only pollinate our dwindling forest species but they also disperse the seeds of biodiversity ensuring the health and diversity of forests of the future.
