Apprentice Jockeys (1957)

Newmarket, Suffolk. M/S of several young men on horses with stables in the background. Boys are riding around stable yard while trainer, Mr Arthur Goodwill, is watching. Youngsters leave the stables, still lined up. Youngsters are apprentice jockeys in training. Several shots of the lined up boys riding slowly. L/S of a horse galloping towards the camera in a straight line. There are others behind him. The apprentices usually start at the age of fifteen, says the voiceover. They work in the stables and they are trained each for specific riding technique. Not all of the apprentices become jockeys, some stay to work in stables or choose some other career.
