Cuban Ambassador to the UK speaks

The Cuban ambassador to the UK speaks at a packed meeting in west London, celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the CPGB-ML. We also celebrated and marked two historic international events, and great victories of the working class and of Socialism. These were the Storming of the Moncada and Bayamo Barracks on 26th July 1953, that started the Cuban Revolution, and the Victory of the Fatherland liberation war in Korea on July 27th 1953, that was the first major defeat of US IMPERIALISM. After the opening remarks of Ella Rule, Chairman of the CPGB-ML, (which can be seen here: our comrade and Ambassador of Cuba in the UK, Her Excellency Ismara Mercedes Vargas Walter shares her thoughts, both on the anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and the ongoing problems that the Cuban people face. It is clear that those problems come from the ongoing attempt to destabilise Cuba by her enemies, chiefly the USA. Cuba is punished - like Haiti before her - for being in the Vanguard of the liberation struggle, and in Cuba’s case also the struggle for socialism globally. Cuba is, of course, just 70 miles of the coast of Florida, where the reactionary emigre ’Gusano’ Cuban’s still plot with the US to recolonise her people. These are the problems of living so close to the giant of US imperialism - in the jaws of the crocodile! - which remains hell-bent on destroying the Socialist Republic of Cuba, precisely because it is an outstanding example to the US and world proletariat of just what can be achieved once the people throw off their exploiting class. The economic blockade of Cuba, in place since the “Cuban Missile Crisis“ of 1953, not only remains in force, but has been intensified over the last four years, since in January 2021, when in the dying days of his last administration, US president Donald Trump placed Cuba - without any ’justification’, of course - placed Cuba back on its list of “State Sponsors of Terrorism“ - together with the DPRK, Syria and Iran. This is a “unilateral coercive measure“ applied by the US on these states which effectively “de-banks“ the entire country. Yet less coverage of the consequences of these economic methods of mass destruction is seen that for Nigel Farage when he was kicked out of the Royal’s bank Coutts! These universal coercive measures literally expel countries from the international banking system. Overnight, Cuba lost the services of 40 international banks. It is precisely their monopoly over the financial system and consequent enormous economic power, that led Lenin to observe that Banks had been transformed from “humble middlemen“ of the 14th century, by their concentration and centralisation of capital, and merging with industrial capital, to become the lords of finance capital - the modern imperialist class which dominates the planet and stands above society, running and controlling all aspects of life. These finance capitalists - the monopoly capitalists - are behind the unilateral coercive measures. Not any one president (Biden, Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Ragan, ...), but the entire state apparatus of imperialism. They use the regime of financial sanctions to destabilise countries for their real crime: of being sovereign and resisting the exploitation, political and and financial penetration of Anglo-american capitalism). This then, is the enemy of all humanity. These are its methods. Cde Ismara sends greetings to comrades and supporters of the CPGB-ML on the 20th anniversary of our founding ,with the observation that ours is a truly internationalist party, and that we stand, despite all differences in culture and national origin, united by principles. We have an important task: of upholding, teaching and spreading the liberation ideology of Marxism-Leninism to the working class, and ushering in a future world of equality, joy and happiness.
