kangombio song, by Edwin Syasiya

Edwin Syasiya, from Siachuma-Dindi village, Mukuni district, Southern Province, Zambia, born in 1939, plays the kangombio lamellaphone. Interesting is that the Leya people refer to the instrument by the same name as the Mbunda from Western Province, and not by the Tonga name ’kankobela’ amongst whom they live. Edwin is the last player of this ancient instrument, when he dies it will die with him. He is also the Mukuni Palace kangombio player. He said he learned from his father, and inherited the instrument
