Greensleeves (Tudor Song)

It’s possibly the most famous Tudor song of all, but how much do we really know about Greensleeves? There are several misconceptions surrounding it’s meaning and origin. Henry VIII did not write it for Anne Boleyn, and it’s now believed that the song originated after his death in Elizabethan England. However, this doesn’t stop it from being a fascinating song with so much to offer the listener and performer. There are EIGHTEEN verses in the original lyric, but I’ve selected five to sing for this recording. I think I will probably make more recordings of this song because there so many verses to delve into and so much story to tell! This song is a live performance in The Charterhouse, London
