IJA Tricks of the Month by Jesse Patterson from USA | Hula Hoop Juggling

This series is part of eJuggle, the IJA’s online juggling resource: Jesse Patterson is originally from Dallas, Texas. She’s trained traditional hula hoops at a circus school in her hometown from the age of 12. At 19, she moved away from home to attend the National Centre for Circus Arts in London, UK. That summer she attended her first IJA Festival in El Paso. She immediately fell in love with hoop rolling after attending a workshop with Aleksandra Savina. After spending a year learning the basics of the discipline, she grew frustrated with the amount of patterns she saw being done. She began researching how to apply siteswap to hoop rolling as a method of trick creation and exploring all the different possible rolls and combining these with other elements.  She wants to thank her teachers at the National Centre for Circus Arts, Ian Marchant and Inaki Sastre, for supporting and helping her develop her ideas.  Special thanks to Chris Owston for filming.
