OLd Kamaicha

The Kamaicha is a bowed string instrument, which is exclusively played by the Manganair community of western Rajasthan. In this case by a musician within the walls of the Yellowstone fort at Jaisalmer in the Thar desert. The kamaicha is made of mango wood. The lower part is hollowed and round and covered in goat skin. A total of 14 - 17 strings but uppermost are thicker made from goats gut. These are played with a bow while the others are sympathetic. the Pitch is changed by rubbing the nails of the fingers against the srting.
