Stalag 302 Rederitz Prisoner of War Cemetery / Cmentarz jeńców wojennych Stalagu 302 Rederitz

In 1935-36 in the vicinity of Gross Born (today’s Klomino) a German military training ground was established. In September 1939 Germans established several camps for prisoners of war. These were oflags for officers and stalags for other soldiers. According to historical sources, in the years 1939-45 tens of thousands of prisoners of war of different nationalities passed through the POW camps in the area of today’s Borne Sulinowo municipality. One of them was located on the area of the training ground Groß Born near Nadarzyce (German Rederitz), and which as a result of reorganization changed its name from Stalag 323 (II G) to Stalag II H (302). As a result of disease and starvation, about 12 thousand prisoners were killed here. The remains of at least 30,000 Poles, Russians, Frenchmen, Yugoslavians, Czechs, British, and Germans were buried in the surrounding woods. The exact number of victims resting in the camp cemeteries near Kłomino is unknown. Neither are all burial sites known. The cemeteries that have already been located were found by accident. Until now human bones and immortals have been found in the forests. Today only cemeteries remain after the camps, some of them still undiscovered. Near Kłomino, on the so-called POW route, a cemetery was created in memory of prisoners of the camp Stalag 302 Rederitz. A forest of birch crosses has grown on an area of less than a hectare. Several thousand prisoners of different nationalities are buried here in mass graves. I invite you to watch, comment, subscribe :) Zapraszam do oglądania, komentowania, subskrybowania.
