An ode to his most beloved flooring types, Floorcuts EP sees Shekuza take on his most accessible and deadliest form yet, compressing his sturdy machine funk to its pure essence. His modular explorations are stripped back to their bare minimum in true Birmingham fashion, revolving around greasy big room kicks and roaring hardware workouts, robust as marble and yet uncannily psychedelic. On close inspection, minute aural events are gradually unveiled in his detailed productions, shiver-inducing textures in the Surgeon mould masterfully blended together with spectral voices that hover in the background. Depending on your preferences when it comes to various surfaces, you can pick between the moody roller ’Laminate’, pacy big room stomper ’Hardwood’ and Berghain’s Halle-ready ’Parquet’. But if you feel even tougher on the inside, the metallic clangs and sludgy synthworks of ’Stone’ will definitely do the job.
