Jim Beam Welcomes Muse Home to Exeter Cavern (Live performance of Compliance)

Witnessing a music community reborn in real time, Jim Beam Welcome Sessions celebrates the people behind every artist. That’s why we brought Muse back to their very first stage—the Exeter Cavern—to reunite them with the special people who gave them their start. Pippa Wragg, Co-Owner of “the Cavern Club” (its original name), booked Muse’s first gig and many thereafter, while other venues turned them away for playing their own music instead of covers—a widespread trend at the time. Similarly, the owner of a local recording studio, Dennis Smith, offered the band free studio time and recorded their first EP, after seeing them perform at the Cavern Club in 1997. Lead singer Matt Bellamy said it best: “Without the ongoing support of our community, we wouldn’t be here today.
