D-DAY | “Omaha Beach“

Omaha Beach was assaulted on June 6, 1944 by the U.S. 29th and 1st infantry divisions, many of whose soldiers were drowned or were killed by fire from German troops entrenched on heights surrounding the beach. A total of 4,414 Allied troops were killed on D-Day itself, including 2,501 Americans. More than 5,000 were wounded.
