Visit Visit our website This silent, raw footage from the Vietnam War appears to show activities of a dredge, possibly part of the Republic of Vietnam Navy. It begins with footage inside the engine room of the dredge, with a crew member opening a valve, and the boiler fire visible. Additional footage is on deck, with the business end of the dredge visible (4:00). Welding is seen at (4:26), tying up the ship to the dock, and operation of machinery follows. The location is unknown but it might be the Nam Can Naval Base or any other of numerous areas which were subject to heavy dredging during the Vietnam War. Motion picture films don’t last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
