“Driving it again has been an inexplicable joy and I really enjoyed every kilometer I covered so far with this car, the only ex-Le Mans car to have been registered and therefore made road-legal. In other words, I could go shopping in it.”
Once upon a time, in 1997, Nissan wanted to enter the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a modern GT1 racing car. The V8 that started life in the Group C era formed the basis for the powerplant, two turbochargers were added to the unit. After some technical problems occurred in the 1997 edition, all R390 GT1 racers passed the finishing line one year later. Erik Comas was in one of them, and the car now resides in garage.
