1988 Teen Looks Jazzie doll Commercial Variation | Mattel
Jazzie was actually produced to compete with the successful Maxie line of dolls from Hasbro. After Jem failed to reach the success that Hasbro had intended her too, she was replaced with a much more “normal” doll; Maxie. She was an all-American, girl next door high schooler. That pretty much sums up what Jazzie was too, as they were very similar. I’m not sure if Jazzie was that successful, mostly because she kinda blended into the Barbie aisle. She’s still a cool example of Mattel’s 80s/90s battle with hasbro though! This commercial isn’t the best quality but it is an interesting variation.
