Samadhi (1977) Duration - 22 Min John Sankaramangalam, a former director of Film and Television Institute of India made this film on renowned yoga exponent BKS Iyengar. Through the course of the film, a 59-year-old Iyengar can be seen instructing different asanas to students with Sanskrit chants in the background score. Well-known music director and sitarist Bhaskar Chandavarkar composed for the film. The film won the Rajat Kamal for ’Best Experimental Film at the 25th National Film Award for achieving a mellifluous blending of the spirit and philosophy of Yoga, with a wealth of detail of practical exercises in an atmosphere of calm contemplation, ennobling music and recitations from the sacred texts.
