Basket Hilted Broadsword : Jacobite Impression Part 1

Welcome to a new series crafting a Jacobite inspired reenactment impression. In Part 1 I begin the Scots basket hilted broadsword. This is only very loosely a mid 18th century broadsword,. Really it is an amalgam of all the characteristics I personally enjoy. The blade is far too wide to be historical and the decoration on the guard is my own take on many of the forms seen on extant pieces, but it is, perhaps, something which could have existed at the time. Keep an eye out for Part 2 where I will be finishing the sword! Britches Full of Stitches. Munster Bank. Bill Sullivan’s (The A Polkas) by Sláinte | Music promoted by Creative Commons CC BY-SA 3.0
