Built at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. Then it was shipped to Kennedy Space Center in Florida where it was launched. It took 7 months to get to Mars. Parts of the spacecraft include Cruise Stage, Backshell, Descent Stage, Perseverance, and the Heat Shield. Getting to the Surface of Mars is called EDL - Entry, Descent, and Landing. This must happen autonomously. The main purpose of the rover is to search for signs of life. Scientific instruments include SuperCam, MastCam-Z, MEDA, SHERLOC, WATSON, PIXL, MOXIE, and RIMFAX. The rover also brought along a helicopter called Ingenuity. This is the first helicopter to fly on another planet! ⌚Timestamps: 00:00-Intro 00:56-Previous Mars Rovers 01:34-Built on Earth 03:02-Launch Window 03:36-Launch 05:08-Spacecraft 06:01-Communication Delay 07:23-Entry,Descent, and Landing (EDL) 09:12-Main Purpose 09:34-Tour of the Rover 13:20-Communicating with Earth 14:44-Ingenuity Helicopter 16:01-Next steps on Mars 16:21-Morning Brew 17:19-More Animations 💻Follow me on social media: Patreon: Twitter: Instagram: Facebook: Tiktok: @jaredowenanimations 🌐Internet Sources: (official website for Perseverance) (Amazing 3d visualization of the rover!) #/home (Amazing 3d walkthrough of EDL) Built For Mars: The Perseverance Rover (National Geographic Documentary) (Getting Perseverance to the Launch Pad) (Perseverance Rover Launch to Mars) (Perseverance Rover Landing on Mars) (Sample Caching System) (Countdown to Mars: A Story of Perseverance) (7 minutes of terror) (Mars Helicopter) (Return Mars Samples to Earth) 📚Book Sources: Perseverance and the Mars 2020 Mission by Manfred “Dutch“ von Ehrenfried NASA Missions to Mars: A Visual History of Our Question to Explore the Red Planet by Piers Bizony 🟠This animation was made with Blender 3.1 (Cycles Render) 🎵Music (): Inner Peace by Moments Edge of the Sea by Cody Martin Finding Truth by Cody Martin Rain on the Leaves by In This World Medal of Valor by Cody Martin 🚁NASA 3D models used in the video: Mars Rover Perseverance - Mars Helicopter Ingenuity - Mars Rover Curiosity - Mars Rover Spirit and Opportunity - Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter - Deep Space Network Antenna - 3D models that I purchased for this video: Mars Rover Sojourner - Jeep Renegade - SpaceX Starship - 🎧Here is some of the gear that I use for animation: Graphics Card: GTX 3090ti Microphone: Shure MV7 Mouse: Razer Naga X Chair: Staples Gaming Chair #b3d #MarsRover #NASA
