Applying Japanese Jujitsu Volume 1-3

Classical Japanese Jujitsu was a battlefield art that had as many variations and interpretations as there were practitioners. Of those that have survived to the present day, certain commonalities often unify them. In this three volume set we will explore certain key elements of combat Jujitsu. In Volume 1, we begin with a basic understanding of the centrality of throws and takedowns. There is a common misconception that grappling is a modern addition to Jujitsu that had no place in the world of armed battle. In reality, the presence of weapons encouraged the rapid closing of distance, often resulting in clinches, takedowns and finishing on the ground. In this volume we will explore some of the key elements of throwing and show a wide sampling of throws and takedowns. In addition, we will introduce some of the traditional exercises for breath work and body conditioning.
