Oldarra - Adios ene maitia

Recorded in March 1997 in the Chapel of Notre Dame du Refuge, Anglet. C’est un choeur d’hommes grave et profond, 40 ténors, barytons et basses qui chantent en basque et a capella romances et airs sacrés, chansons de marin et de berger. Leur premier album, Oldarra, le chant basque (Warner Classics), s’est vendu à 60 000 exemplaires. The musical traditions of the Basque have been preserved by Biarritz-based Oldarra. Singing songs from the region’s seven provinces in their original language, the all-amateur, 40-man choral group blends a rich mixture of liturgical chants and songs written by sailors or shepherds.
