On February 6, an earthquake measuring 7.8 hit Kahramanmaraş in southern Turkey, near the Syrian border. Dozens of powerful aftershocks quickly followed. Over 40,000 men, women, and children died within minutes. Over one million lost their homes and were left out in the cold during the freezing winter. For the many that survived, the mental anguish and psychological trauma may never completely go away. Two weeks later a second and third earthquake measuring 6.4 and 5.8 battered Turkey’s southern province of Hatay, causing further distress to an already devastated region. The loss of life and ruin across both countries is hard to imagine, as are the images and heartrending accounts. In response to such a devastating natural disaster and staggering death toll, Perspectives Digital is launching a fundraiser tied to the release of a brand new production by Kai Bellen featuring vocalist Luke Coulson titled “The Storm“. Bringing the likes of Mind Against, Patrice Bäumel, Colyn, Massano, Echonomist, and dozens of others to Turkey’s capital as Music and Events Director at Istanbul’s premier club Kastel, Kai Bellen has been a prominent DJ across his hometown and influential figure of the Turkish electronic music scene. A nascent production career began in sparkling fashion with his debut release on D-Formation’s Beatfreak Recordings in February 2023. A favorite on a number of elite imprints, Luke Coulson has risen rapidly to prominence in recent times with a steady stream of releases since 2017. The UK based DJ and producer’s unique blend of soft and raw vocals backed with dark, heavy basslines and atmosphere has propelled him into dance music’s upper echelons with signings on Anjunabeats, Toolroom, This Never Happened, Purified, Electronic Elements, DAYS like NIGHTS, and many more. Now joining forces for the first time, Kai Bellen and Luke Coulson provide a powerful and emotive gem for their debut release on Darin Epsilon’s imprint. Rippling arpeggios filter across the mid-range in subtly cadenced fashion as a driving beat and ticking percussion supply dancefloor vibrancy.
