END of an ERA: The Mullin Collection of Fine French Automobiles
Peter Mullin was passionate about French cars of all types and eras.
He was so passionate, in fact, that he amassed the finest collection of such machines outside of France and decided to share it with the general public by establishing the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California.
On display were amazing automobiles built by Bugatti, Citroën, Delahaye, Hispano-Suiza and others. But that wasn’t all: Mr. Mullin also collected French furniture, objet d’art, period advertising, musical instruments, automotive sculpture, and artifacts from industry.
Sadly, Peter Mullin passed away in 2023 and the Museum is now closed.
The fabulous collection was dissolved. Selections from the Mullin Collection were recently offered for sale by Gooding & Company at an on-site auction.
It was a bittersweet moment for collector car fans: On the one hand, the chance to see these historic cars all in one place is gone forever. On the other hand, many will hopefully be on the road enjoyed by new caretakers, or shown at many car events to come.
This video is one last look at the Mullin Museum, the collection, and the efforts of Gooding & Company to find new homes for these incredible machines.
