Bathtub Tray DIY Build

The bathroom is very small and any small enhancements I can make around the room add a lot of usability, even if it’s just for something to catch the eye and bring the style of the cabinets to another part of the room. But this bathtub tray also functions as a command center when you’re taking a relaxing bath; a slot for your wine glass, support for a phone or tablet to rest against to watch Netflix, with space to spare for shampoo and even a few candles. I used walnut and holly for this build. Walnut because the cabinets are already a dark wood and holly because it adds a nice contrast. It’s also a new wood I’ve never worked with before. It handles a lot like hard maple and burns very easily when sawed. I was sure to give extra coats of finish (Waterlox in this case) since it would see water & splashing when in use. Most of its life will be spent as decoration, but I wanted it to be functional and useful when the moment asked for it.
