Malawi Eye Biter | Care Guide & Species Profile

Today’s video is a care guide and species profile on the Malawi Eye Biter (Dimidiochromis compressiceps). Malawi Eye Biters are beautiful cichlids from Lake Malawi, with awesome coloration and behaviors that really stand out in a tank. Malawi Eye Biters are in the predatory hap category of African cichlids, and they look great with other haps in an all male display tank, or in a breeding group. Due to their predatory nature, they shouldn’t be kept with fish that are too small (such as small mbuna or community fish), or too different in terms of behavior (open swimming). Since you want to avoid territorial aggression and open swimming space with haps, it’s best to limit décor in the tank. The Malawi Eye Biter has some distinctive predatory behavior and body shape, and due to this, they are one of my favorite cichlids. If they’re kept correctly, I would highly recommend them!
