9000 Miles Journey with Ultralight Trike in 2019

This is the video highlights the most of my flights over various places in 2019. I started making the annual digested version titled with “9000 Miles Journey with Trike“ in 2011 and this is the 9th movie. The wording “9000 Miles“ doesn’t represent the actual mileage of my flights. It is named based on the simple calculation that 140 hours (annual average flying hours) X 65 mph (average of my trike airspeed). I’m so happy that I could make them in 9 consecutive yeas. I’m so grateful to all my pilot friends flew with me in the past. Some of you organized fly-ins, provided hangar or accommodation, provided excellent local tours and helped me in many other ways. I wish you many more safe and enjoyable flights in years to come. Also thank you so much to all my YouTube channel followers and Facebook friends for being a fan of my movies and leaving many kind and positive comments on my posts. The biggest decision I made in 2019 as a pilot was that I ordered my new gyro. I have flown almost 1400 hours in 5 trikes in the last 11 years. I still believe that trikes are an excellent platform for movies and photos. On the other hand, the biggest problem on gyros is its vibrations in a flight. It is the basic nature of gyro and can’t be eliminated completely because of its aerodynamic behavior of its rotor system. That was the main reason I hesitated to go to gyro in the past. But gyros have two major advantages over trikes. Maneuverability and stability in turbulence. Several of my trike pilot friends moved to gyros in the past few years. Most of them (these is only one pilot who prefers his trike.) are vary happy after they made their changes. There have been a lot of ongoing discussions about the safety advantage between trike and gyro. They are distinctively different and each has its own pros and cons. But one thing I could say is that the most of modern gyros are much safer than previous one built with the old designs. In the meantime, some new technologies and capabilities have been evolved in the industry of small action cameras in the past few years. One of them is a huge improvements on the electrical stabilization technologies. I found that some of the action cameras can perform very well in a high vibration environment of gyros. This development definitely increased my motivation to fly in a gyro. My gyro is just delivered to the local airport from Germany. It will be ready to be flown soon. I have added a gyro rating on my pilot license. I will start flying my gyro in 2020. I think I will fly more in my gyro eventually. Happy New Year to all of you !! Henry
