Merzota (Gene Willow 2012) Horror Music / Avant-Garde / Dark Ambient | Scourge for Pry Album

This is my 2012 album in the genre of horror music / avant-garde / dark ambient / drone noise or something like this. It’s inspired by horror films, urban legends, and creepypasta. The name of this project was Merzota, a word that means ’abomination’ in Ukrainian. At that time, I imagined that this word would sound dark and mysterious for a non-Ukrainian speaker. The album’s title is pretty stupid. At that time, my knowledge of English wasn’t as advanced as now. The title meant to express the idea of a punishment for curiosity. But I didn’t want to use a familiar and plain expression. With the help of Google Translate, I found synonyms separately for ’punishment’ and ’curiosity’ and replaced the words. As a result, I got an awkward and unclear for a native English speaker phrase. But maybe it’s for the better, considering the infernally inhuman vibe of the album.
