Crystallography 1984 (synth & ambient)

My second cassette self-release from 1984. Played and recorded on very limited equipment, one mono synth (Roland SH2), a very simple sequencer and a four-track reel to reel. Just tape echo and perhaps a cheap amp spring reverb. I’ve omitted one track, “Duet for two empty chairs” because a reviewer whose opinion I trusted, absolutely hated it. “Dragoninavirus” caused a bit of confusion regarding the pronunciation when it appeared on Inkey$ cassette magazine, it’s “Dragon in a virus” which seems now rather prescient in these Covid times. I’ve long lost the artwork so I have replaced it with something if I’d had at the time I would have probably chosen, it’s an image of a protein molecule. “A full 3D set of x-ray structure factors (here from Photosystem I) is obtained by indexing individual diffraction patterns and summing intensities of indexed spots. This is akin to powder diffraction, where every grain is first oriented in 3D. (Figure courtesy of Thomas White, Center for Free-Electron Lase
