In more recent times, the Samurai warriors presented the Mochi, the rice cake, in front of their traditional armor, while the women arranged a mirror, symbolizing their heart. That is why this rice cake is called Kagami-Mochi. The Mochi served by the Samurai was shaped more like a round flat cake rather than a double stacked bun like today.
