Jana Mynářová. Письменность на окраине. Клинописные традиции на Западной периферии

Jana Mynářová (Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague) “Writing on the Edge. Cuneiform Traditions in the Western Peripheries“ Abstract: The Amarna letters are frequently regarded as the embodiment of cuneiform culture in the Western peripheries. This perception primarily stems from their substantial testimonial value concerning the political, social, and cultural dynamics of the region during the latter part of the second millennium BC. Nevertheless, they do not stand alone as the sole documents of this character originating from the Levant. In this talk, we will examine the Amarna correspondence within a broader cuneiform context, paying particular attention to the correlation between Levantine written sources and the temple and palace economy.
