About the play: Lemmings (レミング) is a play performed by the angura theatre troupe Tenjo Sajiki. It was written by Terayama Shuji and directed by Terayama and J.A. Seazer, with music composed by J.A. Seazer. This recording is from a performance at the Yokohama Education and Culture Hall on May 15 1983, 6 days after Terayama’s death. The play was initially written and performed in 1979, then rewritten and performed again at the Kinokunya Hall between December 9 and 15 1982. About this project: Lemmings 1982 is one of my favorites of Terayama’s works, it is incredibly smart, funny, rich in meaning and contains so many layers I could spend hours talking about it - instead, I’m happy to present it to you all with subs so you can experience it firsthand.
